Alcohol Traffic Safety Institute ( ATSI)
Century Health is a founding member of the Alcohol Traffic Safety Institute and a voting member of the Board of Directors. Century Health serves as an intake site for those individuals referred to attend ATSI and works closely with the surrounding municipal courts.
The Alcohol Traffic Safety Institute or ATSI program is a 72 hour, comprehensive, residential course, extending from Thursday evening through Sunday. The purpose is twofold:
Increase the participants’ knowledge of alcohol and other drugs and their effect
permit identification of those persons significantly affected by alcohol/drug use so that intervention may occur.
ATSI ... the results
The ATSI curriculum is built around the PRIME For Life Driving Unimpaired program developed by the Prevention Research Institute in Kentucky. Internal and external studies have shown that this program actually changes attitudes and behaviors and reduces the risk of further alcohol and drug related problems.
When faced with the almost overwhelming problem of drivers under the influence, it is good to know that:
There is something we can do.
There is something that works.
